Understanding the new duty on vapes

Confused about the new government duty on vape products and what it means for you? Let us walk you through it.

What's changing?

The Government are introducing a new Duty to paid on eliquid, so this will apply to ALL bottles of eliquid (including zero nicotine), prefilled kits and prefilled refills. The duty will be charged at £2.20 per 10ml of liquid plus VAT, so that’s an extra £2.64 which all goes to the Government.

Between October 1st  2026 and March 31st 2027, you will start to see costs increasing. We are allowed to sell through any existing stock until March 31st, but as new stock starts to arrive, the Duty pricing will start to appear.  By 1st of April 2027, all products that the Duty applies to must display a ‘Duty paid’ sticker, and will reflect the new Duty pricing.

What it means for us all

This will not only have an effect on customers, but also on the behind the scenes costs too. As a business, we’re not 100% sure how this is going to look going forward, but we will provide updates where we can. We are committed to minimising the increase in cost for customers where possible, but unfortunately some cost increases will be unavoidable to ensure the business can continue to operate.

It’s important to remember that despite these price increases, vaping will remain significantly cheaper than smoking. The cost of cigarettes is also rising on October 1st too, so vaping is still the better option to protect both your health, and your wealth!

If you would like to stock up before the new ‘Duty paid’ stock begins to arrive, speak with me when you're next in store and let me know what products you’re interested in.
